The Community and Fandom team aimed to update our sharing experience, creating a foundational design for future features. These new designs would serve as the bedrock for fan moments, including fan insights and other fan interactions. I served as the lead designer and thought partner for the share team during this project.

Sharing is a key action for the fandom flywheel and customer growth. How do we get customers to share more?

Sharing Amazon Music content through social media and text is a crucial mechanism for driving fan engagement and customer growth. By enabling users to easily share their content and fan moments, we can spark conversations that help kickstart the fandom flywheel. This organic spread of music not only amplifies user interaction but also attracts new listeners to the platform and turns more users into super fans of their favorite artists.

As part of the project, I redesigned the share UI cards to ensure they work seamlessly across major social media platforms, text messaging, and internal use cases within the app. The goal was to create a flexible, visually appealing sharing experience that could adapt to various contexts, while maintaining consistency in branding and functionality. Taking these designs, I worked on long term a strategy and designed insight centric features that we could experiment with for the foreseeable future.

Outdated share cards: A barrier to scalability and new content types

The existing share cards on Amazon Music had become outdated and weren’t scalable for new content types like podcasts and audiobooks. Competing music services had already embraced visually appealing designs that performed well on social media. To stay competitive, we needed a refreshed, scalable design that could adapt to evolving content and stand out when shared.
